IMPACT | Maryland Art Place (MAP)

IMPACT is an ongoing public art program developed in 2012 to extend Maryland Art Place’s reach to broader audiences throughout Maryland. Each IMPACT project is developed to respond to its partner site while creating meaningful opportunities for Maryland artists and expanding public access to contemporary art.

Since its launch, MAP has completed more than 18 IMPACT projects through partnerships with cultural organizations, businesses, developers, and community institutions.

BLACK SOX MEMORIAL PROJECT

Maryland Art Place (MAP) is working to engage Baltimore regional artists (MD, DC, PA, DE, VA) working in large-scale sculpture to create artworks of historical Baltimore Black Sox baseball players in partnership with Parks & People and South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBGP)

HOTEL INDIGO

As an extension of MAP’s annual IMPACT public art partnership projects, MAP is partnered with Hotel Indigo to offer rotating exhibitions in Hotel indigo’s library and Poets Modern Cocktails and Eats.

PAST PROJECTS

ZEKE'S COFFEE

MAP collaborated with Zeke's Coffee from 2023 to 2025, hosting 10+ unique group exhibitions and solo shows.

Baltimore Ike Kiosks

In 2023, MAP collaborated with the BROMO Arts & Entertainment District and the Downtown Partnership to highlight 15 local artists on the interactive kiosk network (Ike).

Baltimore Peninsula

In 2023, MAP and the Baltimore Peninsula collaborated to install original artwork by 10 Baltimore-area artists in several buildings.

Hanover Street Gallery: Reframing Pathways

MAP partnered with the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership (SBG), the Youth Resiliency Institute (YRI), Fusion Partnerships and Weller Development to curate an outdoor gallery space on the Hanover Street Bridge façade featuring 24 works of art.

La Quinta Inn & Suites

MAP partnered with LA Quinta Inn & Suites in 2017 to create mural and suite artwork by artist Mike McConnell.

SUNNYFIELDS Showroom

In 2016, MAP partnered with SUNNYFIELDS, a division of Delbert Adams, to display several artists' work within the SUNNYFIELDS showroom.

Green Spring Station

In 2015, MAP partnered with Green Spring Station to feature work from MICA students in temporary indoor installations.

Neighborhood Design Center

In 2014, MAP partnered with the Neighborhood Design Center (NDC) and Art Lives Here in Prince Georges County to present a public artwork by artist Becky Borlan at their new Landex site in PG County.

TOWSON TOWN CENTER

In 2013, MAP partnered with the Towson Town Center and artist Amanda Burnham to create a 2D wall installation on the second level of the Towson Town Center.

Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore

In 2013, MAP partnered with the Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore (JCC) to present an outdoor installation by Global Humanity Now (GHN).
